National Geographic survey - US americans don't know geography - YES Switzerland exists

Not only the french have bad results in geography tests, US Americans are worse ;-)

After more than three years of combat and nearly 2,400 U.S. military deaths in Iraq, nearly two-thirds of Americans aged 18 to 24 still cannot find Iraq on a map, a study released Tuesday showed.

Incroyable mais vrai: alors que presque chaque famille états-unienne compte ou a compté depuis 2003 l’un de ses membres en Irak dont les media visuels parlent constamment, cartes à l’appui, plus de la moitié des jeunes Américains sont incapables de situer ce pays sur une carte selon une étude, réalisée par l’Institut Roper pour la revue National Geographic auprès de 510 jeunes âgés de 18 à 24 ans. Il est vrai qu’une moitié d’entre eux sont également incapables d’indiquer l’emplacement de New York sur une carte de leur propre pays.
Autant de lacunes qui, déplore l’Institut Roper, ne traumatisent nullement les sondés quand on leur mez le nez dans leur ignorance. Même quand ils situent le Soudan en Amérique du Sud, confondent le continent Antarctique et la forêt amazonienne et sont convaincus que les Etats-Unis comptent entre 1 milliard et 2 milliards d’habitants!…

No Switzerland is NOT the Czech republic - Americans can't even be helped by Google Local which doesn't show Switzerland borders - YES Switzerland exists but where ?
